Information about marathon
Step-by-step guide
  • Four marathons
    From December 2019 to February 2020 we will hold four weekly marathons. During the marathon, participants will create content on specific topics on social media.
  • Four topics
    Each marathon will have its own common theme. The theme of the first marathon is Visual storytelling. The second is the threat of misinformation and ways to combat it.
  • Duration of one marathon - five or seven days
    Each marathon will last from 5 to 7 days. Manage to create content!
  • New Knowledge
    We will provide free knowledge from the best trainers of the CIS and Central Asia on the platform of the CABAR.asia Media School platform in the form of the online course "With New Media at YOU", necessary for winning the marathon. We add new lessons to the course as marathon progresses, and also conduct live broadcasts with experts on topics.
  • Ready-made post topics
    We give ready-made topics for every day of the marathon, because sometimes the most difficult thing is to come up with something to write about. We solve this problem for you :)

We all live in captivity of gender stereotypes, regardless of our gender. Girls need to be beautiful, and boys must not cry. Share your story about how gender stereotypes have influenced you in life.

When reporting on events, we always need to recognize two sides (objectivity, it is), that's what stories should be told both by the voices of men and by the voices of women. Tell by your example why it is so important to give a voice to women when covering events.

Media, bloggers and content creators influence society and, raising the issue of gender-based violence, can help reduce and someday completely eliminate gender-based violence in our society. Let us also make our contribution to this struggle.

Participants are invited to tell how the facts were able to change an existing point of view. And friends and subscribers of the participants will see that the facts matter and our understanding of the world should be based on facts and figures.

Participants, as influencers or opinion leaders, are invited to analyze what responsibility they personally bear for the dissemination of misinformation in their communities. Let us ponder whether a blogger should be held responsible for this at all.

Participants and even organizers will tell you how they themselves came across on fake news and what consequences this led to. Do not be ashamed to learn from your own mistakes :)
The marathon ends on January 11, 2020 (23:59 GMT +6), each participant who followed the rules will be added to the table for the commission for the selection of winners. Winners will be selected based on the scoring table. The commission will select 3 winners from each country who will receive valuable prizes.

A person of any age / gender / nationality can participate in the marathon. However, citizens of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan between the ages of 18 and 26 years old (as of January 1, 2020) can compete for prizes.

No, each marathon will have its own registration, it will be necessary to register separately for each one.

I am confused how many winners will there be and is it mandatory to participate in each marathon?

Each marathon will have 3 winners from each country (1,2, and 3 places), as a result, 9 winners in one marathon. The winners of one marathon can not claim the prizes of other marathons, but can participate in them.

After the end of the fourth marathon, an independent jury will select from the winners of all 4 marathons (36 people) the three best participants that meet all the criteria that will go to an internship in England.
Marathons are held as part of CABAR.asia Media School
The educational platform "Media School CABAR.asia" was launched at the end of 2018 by the IWPR Representative Office in Central Asia. IWPR is an international non-profit media organization supporting the development of local media, independent journalists and freedom of speech. IWPR programs operate in 30 countries, including the republics of Eastern Europe, the Middle East, the Caucasus, Africa, Central America and Southeast Asia. In Central Asia, IWPR has been operating since 1999.
More
